  • We are thrilled to be able to help out the amazing ambassadors of the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust by supplying them with cozy softshell jackets. We want to show our appreciation for all the hard work they do and ensure they stay warm while they are out there making a difference. Thank you for all that you do!

  • The Challenges of Moving to Sustainable Fabrics and How We’re Tackling Them. After outfitting people for decades, we understand how important it is to evolve with the times. As the world shifts towards a more sustainable future, so do we. While we're making steady progress, we won't gloss over the fact that procuring and using sustainable fibres comes with its own set of complex challenges. For years we’ve done our best to explore new and innovative fabrics, and now we’ve set our sights on a bold, but achievable target. Read More: https://lnkd.in/gp-WTYcx

  • Facing challenges is a common experience that is often unwelcome. We were fortunate to have Abbas Nazari, a truly inspirational individual, speak to our team this week. He is a gifted storyteller and a remarkable person. We appreciated his sharing the intimate details of your family's refugee journey with such warmth and authenticity. Your story resonated deeply with us. Thank you for your insights on the decision-making process in difficult circumstances.

“Adversity is the gift that everyone receives, and nobody wants”. So lucky to have this legend, Abbas Nazari, share his story with our team yesterday. An amazing story-teller and all-round great human. Abbas, thank you for painting such a relatable, warm and beautifully detailed picture of your family’s refugee experience. Do you stay or do you go? As an organisation made up of many people whose parents or grandparents made similar decisions (to move away from the familiar and towards the absolute unknown in search of a better life), your story resonated deeply. Afghanistan’s loss is New Zealand’s gain. Thank goodness Helen Clark made that phone call 👊. #deaneapparel Celebrity Speakers New Zealand

  • Sophia from Deane Apparel attended the Bocuse d'Or Pursuit of Excellence Gala Dinner. It was a fundraiser put together by Jane Fitzpatrick from Compass who is a Trustee of the New Zealand Culinary Arts Academy. Compass Group is backing their Compass chefs, Will Mordido and Brett McGregor, as well as the rest of the Bocuse d'Or NZ Team on their journey to Bocuse d'Or Asia Pacific 2024. The goal is to represent New Zealand's culinary talent on the world stage. The degustation menu was a collaboration of Guest Chefs Peter Gordon, Sid Sahrawat and Greg Piner. MC was David Downs, CEO of New Zealand Story. You might spot some other familiar faces there too. 😀

Thanks to Hannah Sharpe and Christina Kwon from Deane Apparel New Zealand for visiting our Textile Recovery and Processing facility and getting on the tools! A site visit from our engaged partners always invites fascinating discussion. It’s a chance to analyse the results of their uniform and garment recycling partnership with us, and potential opportunities to increase our impact in this space- o   Can the garment design be improved for ease and optimisation of recycling? o   How do we jointly encourage sustainable textile waste management? o   How can we work closer together to ensure best results? o   What are the opportunities for Circularity in textile waste? We appreciate the Deane team’s ongoing commitment to take full responsibility for the lifecycle of their uniforms and making a genuine Impact! Learn more about how Deane is taking responsibility for their uniforms in their blog post: https://lnkd.in/gAv_5aKz
