Building excellence for business + people

About us

Apollo Projects (“Apollo”) is a design and construction company, specialising in the delivery of turn-key food and beverage processing facilities and controlled environment construction. Specialist industries we operate in include. • Food Processing • Dairy • Wineries & Beverages • Cold Storage • Retail, Commercial & Industrial • Sports, Aquatics & Education Apollo is committed to providing industry-leading construction services to these sectors and has a proven track record for on-time and on-budget developments. We have designed and built large scale developments for many national corporates including Fonterra, Synlait, Foodstuffs, Big Chill and Lion Nathan. Apollo has also undertaken a number of international projects. As a design and build contractor we coordinate and manage every aspect of a build project from concept design, to consent approvals, to construction and finally commissioning and client hand-over. We tailor our services to suit client’s requirements and encourage robust discussion within the project team around materials, design and buildability. A key point of difference for Apollo is our early participation in the building and services design process – this is referred to as Early Contractor Involvement or ECI. As ECI specialists we bring both a practical and theoretical understanding of project buildability which means we develop a more efficient design. We design and build to a budget and remain conscious of design change implications at every step in the process. Health & safety is integral to the Apollo culture - Our first value is ‘Safety above all else’, and our approach to this is collaborative. On every project we employ our leading health and safety management systems, offering our clients and every project participant peace of mind, knowing that safety comes first.

Delivering New Zealand's First Green Star 6 Cold Store! 🌿 A few weeks ago, we proudly announce that the A.P. Moller - Maersk Cold Store at Ruakura Superhub achieved a 6 Star Green Star NZ As Built rating, which is the highest possible recognition for sustainability in commercial construction, and a first for a cold storage facility in Aotearoa. “This achievement underscores our dedication to decarbonisation and innovation across both industrial development and supply chain logistics,” said Kylie Fraser, Managing Director of Maersk Oceania. Designed and built by Apollo, the 18,000m2 facility was completed in February 2024, on time and within budget, with several stages handed over early. From day one, sustainability and performance were front and centre, with features including: ◾ One of the world's largest transcritical CO2 refrigeration systems ◾ Condensate recovery and rainwater harvesting systems ◾ A 1.52MW rooftop solar array ◾ Lithium-powered reach and forklifts ◾ A fully integrated BMS and a design-led layout that saved over 88km of piping Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/drDeyARV New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) #sustainability #construction #designandbuild

  • Delivering Community Facilities on Time and on Budget 💡 At Apollo Projects, our team have proven that it’s possible to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with the highest quality through our design and build approach. Yesterday our team members Sam Toulmin and Simon Wall presented "Community facility projects: Managing scope, costs and expectations" at Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) SuperLocal 2025, highlighting how bringing contractors on early and prioritising function over aesthetics leads to better outcomes for all. By aligning scope with budget from the outset, we’ve helped councils like Hutt City, Gisborne, Tauranga and Selwyn (plus many more!) deliver community centred facilities without unexpected cost blowouts. The presentation sparked discussions on supply chain risks, local material sourcing, and balancing cost-effectiveness with supporting local economies. Our team are always here to chat through how we work, so get in touch today to discuss your next project! Gold in Prague! 🛶 We want to give a huge shout out to Finn Butcher who recently won gold at the Canoe Slalom World Champs in Prague! What a brilliant way for him to finish off his first block of racing for the 2025 season. Finn has been amazing at keeping our team updated and engaged on this training and his competitions and there’s been plenty of lessons learnt both on the water and off! “One of the things sport teaches you, but this sport in particular is resilience. You can be on great form and then the next week things just don’t fall into place for you…It keeps you coming back to chase that optimal performance, nothing is a given and you just have to try the very best you can each time and see where the dominos fall.” Said Finn Butcher in his most recent communications to his sponsors. Well done Finn, we are grateful to be able to support you on your journey to LA28! ⭐ #sponsorship #sports #resilience

  • ⭐ Maersk Ruakura Cold Store Achieves Green Star 6 As Built Rating ⭐ Apollo is proud to announce that the A.P. Moller - Maersk cold store project at Ruakura Inland Port, in Hamilton, has been awarded a Green Star 6 As Built rating - the highest possible recognition for sustainability in commercial construction and the first ever cold store to acheive this rating. This milestone reflects the seamless integration of innovation, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence throughout the project. Apollo began design in early 2022, was on site by August 2022, and completed the 18,000m² facility on a 45,000m² site in February 2024. Several stages were handed over ahead of schedule, and the project was delivered on time and within budget. Key Features of the Facility ▪️ Transcritical CO₂ Refrigeration System: One of the largest of its kind globally, using waste heat to warm the office and underfloor glycol system. ▪️ Condensate Recovery System: Enables water reuse on the refrigeration cooling tower misters. ▪️ Rainwater Harvesting: Extensive systems support water conservation. ▪️ Lithium Reach and Forklifts: Enhance energy efficiency and operational performance. ▪️ Solar Array: A massive installation generating over 1.52MW of renewable energy. Sustainability at the Core Sustainability was a central focus from the outset. A fully integrated Building Management System (BMS) provides complete control over all services, including the CO₂ refrigeration system. Apollo’s design-led approach also resulted in a layout that saved over 88 kilometres of reticulation piping - delivering significant cost and material savings. This achievement highlights Apollo’s commitment to delivering world-class, future-ready infrastructure that supports our clients’ sustainability goals. Well done to everyone who worked hard on this project both on site, and behind the scenes. #sustainability #construction #designandbuild

  • Reminiscing the Astrolabe Wines Ltd project! 🍷 Astrolabe Wines’ new boutique winery nestled in the heart of Blenheim earned a Silver Award at the 2025 Commercial Project Awards in the Tourism & Leisure category. But this win is about more than the facility itself – it’s a celebration of community, cultural connection and collaborative success. The project, led by Apollo Projects in partnership with Te Runanga a Rangitane o Wairau Trust and local stakeholders, transformed this site into a vibrant, functional space that reflects both the region’s winemaking heritage and its cultural roots. The new facility, which cleverly packs lot of functionality into a small space, features a public-facing tasting room, corporate offices and a fully serviced state-of-the-art winemaking area. Read more about the project below. 👇 https://lnkd.in/gwqSFPJF #designandbuild #construction #winery
