03/02/2012 MDFS2 Smoke Curtain:
The MDFS2 Fireblind is an electrically operated automatic smoke curtain designed to restrict lateral spread of smoke within a building in the event of a fire. The curtains are used as part of a smoke, heat exhaust and ventilation system (shevs) designed to save lives. The MDFS2 incorporates the latest in electronic technology including a gravity failsafe facility that allows operation of the curtain in the event of total power failure.

Curtain Fabric
THe MDFS 120+ fabric is a woven glass fibre fabric, reinforced with stainless steel wire and coated on both sides with specially formulated micronised aluminium polymer, which provides an effective heat reflective surface as well as other properties required for material used inthe manufacture of smoke curtains. MDFS120+ fabric complies fully with the requirements of BS476: parts 20 and 22L 1987, as tested at the Faverdale Technology Centre. MDFS 120+ also meets the requirements of BS476: parts 6 and 7: class0.
Bottom Rail
A (T) section bottom rail is attached to the curtain that will stop at ceiling level.
Roller
The curtain fabric coils onto a tubular 70mm barrel mounted on endplates bearings
Coil Casing
The barrel and curtain are housed in a 1.2mm thick galvanised head box
Finish
The coil casing and bottom rail are galvanised as standard. Alternatively, both can be polyester powder coated for visual effect.
The operations of the failsafe function, back-up power supply, stand by components and installations comply and are in accordance with BS7346 Part 3 1990 & BS EN 12101 and assessed by Bodycote warringtonfire under report reference WF No 153824.
