I'm Alastair Gibson

For many years I have been recognised as a provider of quality information and ideas to assist people and organisations to develop and achieve personal and business goals.

Mediation as a process has contributed to this success. It has allowed clients positions of dispute to be teased out and cased differently. This in turn allows parties to view issues differently and move forward to a point of resolution that is acceptable to everyone.

I have considerable experience in all fields of agriculture: family issues, finance, and general life skills. I have mediated a wide range of issues from finance, matrimonial property, contract negotiations including house issues, father-son issues, share milking and business structure.

Experience carries considerable weight consulting through the debt restructuring (discounting) of the 80’s and 90’s, being exposed to tools and mechanisms that will be adapted to assist todays modern farmer.

In the past decade, my involvement with an industry that has experienced high levels of debt and some operators exiting business gives me a good understanding of what can be achieved.

The present farming debt levels put enormous pressure on people and understanding how people react or not is a skill that can only be learned through experience.

I have worked with the Rural Support Trust in Southland. This has given me skills to understand the pressures of modern farming and its effects on mental health and wellbeing.

I bring to any mediation my ability, experience, understanding, and the desire to add dignity and value to your business going forward.

About Me

My name is Alastair Gibson and I am a Southland based mediation facilitator, I have excellent leadership skills and the ability to get a group working as a team. I have a sound understanding of practical, technical, farm and business management to give me the mediation skills necessary to achieve positive results. Over time I have learnt to have good listening skills and the ability to understand the processes involved to get a good outcome where applicable for all parties. A further aspect to helping resolve disputes is the ability to accept all points of view, package this all together and help reach a suitable conclusion for all involved.
