This traditional marketing campaign had a 53.33% success rate. We decided to go out of our comfort zone ever so slightly to dabble in some traditional marketing. We sent out Valentine's Day-inspired gift boxes to all of our previous clients. We called it the 'client comeback' sniper campaign. We took the cheesy opportunity to leverage Valentine's Day to highlight our previous 'relationships' and acknowledge the somewhat mutual break-ups. The main goal was to open up and let them know that we had been working on ourselves over the time we had been apart. And by that, we mean the range of services we now offer. The gift box was covered in Likeable Lab branding with a dash of V-Day red to bring it together and play the part. We lent on humour in our love letter and showered them with current clients' products. Some thought it was brilliant, and some thought it was cringe-worthy. All in all, we are happy with both responses. What did we learn? We learnt how to smash out a 'sniper campaign' in 2 weeks. We understand the power of going through the effort to communicate via physical item vs. a cold email. We started some great conversations and have continued them. We now understand what ROI means to us with this type of marketing. Watch this space!

Ever thought you had what it takes to be on a games show? Nick McDonald, Phil Waylen and Alex Haskell had the pleasure of attending the iconic Hospice Bucket List Banquet along with some Likeable Lab friends and clients on Friday night. This year, Alex was lucky enough to have a spin on the Heathcotes Wheel of Care with the infamous Ronny Phillips as the host - which is kinda like being on a games show. 😉 She also got to talk about how we've been supporting Hospice Waikato with their social media presence for the past few years. It’s a night of fabulous food, unique entertainment and with over 1,000 guests there is a lot of mingling and always a good boogie on the dancefloor - hopefully, if you were there you got to see Phil in all his dancing glory!

What have we learnt from our scrum training so far? That these photos indicate we have 2 x giants, a normal-sized person, and many hobbits in our team. Just kidding. That's just one of the many things we've learnt. It's been over a month since we brought in a new style of project management into the Likeable Lab crew. Both scrum teams have had their first 'retrospective review' on how the first sprint went. Everyone had an opportunity to speak and give feedback on how we can improve things for the next round. We then followed up by asking the team 'If they could pick ONE word to describe scrum so far for them, what would it be?' Some of the words that came from the team are a combination of feelings: thriving, progress x 2, challenged, kaizen (continuous improvement), frustrated, time-crunching, 😬, accountability, stimulating, collaborative and productive. As you can see, two people slightly cheated the system there - but still qualified with some Japanese and emoji. Despite some of the negative connotations towards a couple of those words, they all represent adapting to change. It's all about how we can make things better and how we want to be better. That's what happens when you bring the beauty of our value mahi tahi into play. We work together to get sh*t done.

For Likeable Lab to be better than great, we have to continuously strive for excellence, but what does that really mean? Excellence (Hiranga) is one of our 3 core values, and it goes far beyond just creating excellent content. Our management team (Alex Haskell, Nick McDonald, Phil Waylen, Holly Ross, Michelle Redward (née Stoupe)) has a strong growth mindset, and a good example of this is our team having reviews quarterly instead of yearly. Why? This allows our team to: - Accurately track short and long-term goals. - Get in-depth feedback and guidance frequently. - Achieve and exceed their goals quicker. Our Whanga office (AKA Nick's bach) also has a part to play in our road to excellence. Our management team heads there when it's time to put distractions away, lock in and dive deep into our biggest priorities.
