It's getting warmer out, and you know what that means- Ant Season! 🐜 Ants are generally more prominent during the warmer months, particularly from spring to early autumn. This is when ants are most active and likely to be seen foraging for food, building nests, and reproducing. They might seem harmless, but ants can containment food and generally make your home less hygienic in large numbers. So, if these intruders enter your home, the sooner you address the issue, the better. Here are a few signs you may have them. ➡️ Ant Trails: Ants leave scent trails to communicate with other members of their colony. These trails may be visible as lines of ants moving back and forth between their nest and a food source. ➡️ Visible Ants: Spotting ants indoors, especially in large numbers or in areas like the kitchen, pantry, or near food storage areas, can indicate an infestation. ➡️ Piles of Frass: Frass is a powdery substance made up of ant excrement and wood particles that ants push out of their nests. Finding piles of frass indoors may indicate the presence of a nearby ant nest. ➡️ Noises: In some cases, you might be able to hear a faint rustling or scratching sound coming from walls or ceilings where ants are active. ➡️ Damaged Wood: Certain species of ants, such as carpenter ants, tunnel through wood to build their nests. Keep an eye out for any signs of wood damage, such as small holes or sawdust-like material (frass) near wooden structures. ➡️ Pet Food Disturbance: Ants are attracted to food sources, including pet food. If you notice ants swarming around your pet's food bowl or finding them in the vicinity of spilled pet food, it could indicate an infestation. Don't let ants live rent free in your cosy space!
