Gibson Sheat Lawyers is proud to sponsor the Political Series events in collaboration with the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce! Our aim? To keep you informed about the latest government changes, right here in the Hutt Valley! Recently, we had the privilege of hosting Nicola Willis, who delivered an insightful pre-budget speech. Key takeaways from her press conference: 🔍 The government is implementing cuts to public services as a cost-saving measure. 🚓 Certain agencies, such as the police, are exempt from these cuts. 💼 New job opportunities are being created in critical sectors like healthcare and education. 📈 The net effect will be more job creations than losses due to the cuts. 💡 While the economy faces challenges, the government is optimistic that the budget will pave the way for improvement. Check out our upcoming Political Series events: https://lnkd.in/diq6VQqQ https://lnkd.in/dqX6Xi2R #gibsonsheatlawyers #huttvalleychamberofcommerce #politicalseries #communityengagement #keepingyouinformed

This first for the Hutt Valley was pretty special. It has been 14 years since a Pre-Budget Speech has been held outside of central Wellington. So it was great to host Nicola Willis MP at the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce / Gibson Sheat Lawyers Pre Budget Speech last week. The Minister of Finance noted that she was delighted to be taking a new approach, not just because she lived her childhood in the Hutt, but also because she thought it was appropriate that this Government’s first Budget breaks from the past. It was great to get an insight into the upcoming budget and the new Social Investment Agency which will have a fund working to achieve better results from social service expenditure with smarter use of data, evidence and analytics. Thanks to my team Fiona Mawley, Megan Kibblewhite, Annette Wasson, Hera (Sarah) Whaanga & Olivia T. for supporting this great event. #HuttValley #business #Manufacturing #Science

Last night, we were delighted to host Craigs Investment Partners at our Wellington office for a networking event focused on your financial future. Clarke Cameron introduced us to Craigs Investment Partners, a New Zealand owned firm offering a wide range of financial services, including private wealth management, savings plans, superannuation, investment banking, and institutional equities. Following Clarke's presentation, our legal experts provided valuable insights. Storm McKenna and Claire Byrne discussed trusts, asset planning, and recent trends following changes to the Trusts Act (updated in 2021). Dana Zaidan highlighted the importance of having a will and enduring powers of attorney to ensure your wishes are respected. Considering Your Financial Future? Whether you're planning for your own future or want to safeguard your loved ones, we can help. Our team can assist you with trusts, asset planning, wills, and enduring powers of attorney. If you're looking for financial services, we'd be happy to connect you with the friendly team at Craigs Investment Partners. #GibsonSheatLawyers #CraigsInvestmentPartners #FinancialPlanning #Wellington #NZLawyers #Yourfuture

Congratulations to Storm McKenna on her well deserved promotion to Senior Solicitor! Storm has been a shining star at Gibson Sheat since joining us as a law clerk in our Masterton office in August 2020. Originally a Wairarapa local and Wairarapa College graduate (head girl, no less!), Storm went on to graduate with an LLB and BCom majoring in Accounting from Victoria University in 2019. Admitted to the bar in September 2020, Storm's impressive legal ability and commercial savvy were evident from the start. In 2023, Storm transferred to our Wellington office to further her career, where she has continued to impress with her work ethic, dedication, and strong client relationships. Today, we celebrated Storm's achievement with cake at morning tea. In true Storm fashion, she insisted on baking her own celebratory treat – and what a treat it was! This professional looking tiramisu cake wasn't just delicious, it was a work of art. Storm, your talented in so many ways and we're so lucky to have you as part of the Gibson Sheat team. #gibsonsheat #promotion #celebration #proud #amazingbaker #tiramisucake #multitalented #seniorsolicitor

25 years! Can you believe it? From Logan Blathwayt in 1998 to Gibson Sheat today, Rebecca Upward has seen the evolution of Wairarapa legal services. Mergers and transformations rolled by, but one thing remained constant: Rebecca's dedication, sharp expertise and her can do attitude. More than just a colleague, Rebecca's commitment, quick wit, and genuine warmth have earned her the cherished title of "friend" among colleagues. We celebrated her remarkable 25 year journey with a spread of delicious local treats from The Clareville Bakery, shared with our Masterton office team. It was a fitting tribute to her enduring spirit, loyalty and the positive impact she leaves on everyone around her. Donna Watt, Rebecca's Team Leader, who leads the Masterton Estates and Elder Care Team, gave a touching speech. She reminded us of Rebecca's invaluable contributions over the past 25 years. Rebecca, you're not just a legal superstar; you're the core of our Wairarapa office. Thank you for 25 amazing years! Here's to many more filled with your unique blend of brilliance, warmth and humour that always brightens our day. #Wairarapa #masterton #legalsuperstar #workanniversary #25yearsstrong #loyalty #dedication #milestonecelebration

Ditch the Dishes, Keep the Love this Valentine's Day! Tired of passive aggressive notes about the overflowing dishes? Give your partner the gift of peace (and maybe a clean home!) with a "Happily Ever After, Except for Chores" Contracting Out Agreement. Think of it as a prenup for chores, but way less awkward (and mansion-y). Our agreements help you: • Clearly divide chores & finances: Dishes, laundry, yard work, even Netflix password sharing - it's all up for negotiation! • Talk openly & avoid resentment: Discuss expectations before things get messy. Communication is key! • Customise your love nest: Craft an agreement that fits your unique lifestyle. One size (or chore distribution) doesn't fit all! • Enjoy peace of mind: Knowing who's responsible for what reduces stress and strengthens your bond. Because love isn't about who does more dishes, it's about quality time and building a lasting partnership. But sometimes, a little legal clarity can go a long way. Read more below, or reach out to aimee.mcgowan@gibsonsheat.com to get started, today! https://lnkd.in/gD7aUJyt #ValentinesDay #relationshipgoals #lawyerswhogetit #contractingout #love #prenups #newzealandlaw #wellingtonlawyers #legal

Imagine a vibrant flax mat, its every colour a voice, each texture a tradition, proudly telling stories of Aotearoa's diverse communities. This Waitangi Day, we reflect on the powerful symbolism of Te Whāriki, the woven mat that embodies unity and strength in togetherness. Let's remember: Our unique threads: Embrace the rich tapestry of cultures that make Aotearoa unique. Listen, learn, and celebrate the voices woven into our fabric. Connections that bind us: Share stories, participate in community events, and build bridges of understanding. We are stronger when we stand together. A future for all: Take action for equity and inclusion. Support initiatives that champion the rights and aspirations of every individual, weaving a more just and vibrant Aotearoa. This Waitangi Day, let's commit to weaving a stronger future, where every thread thrives. Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui! (Be strong, be brave, be steadfast!) #WaitangiDay #TeWhariki #Unity #Aotearoa #WeaveTogether
