🚨CHRISTCHURCH UPDATE🚨 Our Ōtautahi campus is growing and developing fast✨ ✅We have expanded our site by acquiring the building next door! ✅Converted an office space into an Automotive Workshop ✅ Started a NEW Level 2 Automotive Programme for our rangatahi ✅Starting a NEW Part-Time Level 3 Automotive Programme ✅Upgrading our In-class Electrical Engineering Lab ✅Level 4 Dementia Micro-Credential Course ✅Hosted our very first Provider Network Event with Connected Canterbury ✅Built relationships with multiple schools in community ✅A Campus Open Day is being organised as we speak! Just Opened! 🥳🤩 Kai Aroha is a charity providing community meals every Monday to those experiencing hardship or food poverty. Blessed with a home now at St.Pauls Church in Papamoa, Tauranga. The crew with the help of their whanau, friends and wider community have turned a patch of land to now a community Koiri Garden. This project is to grow kai for the free meals and to teach Horticulture students from Skills Update and the local community. Special mention to our awesome Horticulture Tutor Emma and her team for all their time and mahi to bring this kaupapa to life✨ Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou ka ora ai te iwi❤

Moe mai rā e te rangataria, Efeso Collins hoki ki o Matua Tipuna. Haere, Haere, Haere Atu Rā   Today, our community mourns the loss of a true community champion, Fa’anānā Efeso Collins. Fa’anānā was a dedicated advocate for underrepresented, underserved, and marginalized communities. He believed in leading by first serving others and inspired a "new rise of leadership". His life demonstrated that a Samoan boy from Otara could succeed at anything with determination and hard work.    Fa’anānā was passionate about inspiring and helping our youth realise their potential through education. He brought to life the dream of all our Parents that migrated here from the Pacific and who took on jobs no one else wanted, so their children could access quality education. He repaid this sacrifice by opening doors for those that followed, calling out racism and challenging the mainstream norms.   We were honoured to have Fa’anānā join the Skills Update Aiga as a presenter at our 2021 YG graduation, a moment that we will cherish for many years to come. We extend our thoughts and prayers to his beautiful wife, Fia, and their daughters, who will undoubtedly feel the loss of their beloved papa.   Moe mai rā Fes! You showed us the true meaning of "o le ala i le pule o le tautua" and your legacy will live on for many generations to come!    Fa’afetai mo le tautua fa’amaoni, malo le onosa’i, malo le pale.
