Von Avi - ‘metal fashion with attitude' - sets an Oscar standard
Von Avi unique metal handbags and fashion accessories now have an Oscar winning pedigree, thanks to the efforts of the bag's fabricator, aviation engineer Greg von Heraud- Parker, on the set of Avatar.
Greg's expertise in metal fabrication and riveted construction in his work restoring WWII fighter planes over the last decade caught the attention of Art Director Kim Sinclair who invited him to build replica aircraft for the Hollywood blockbuster.
The Art Department went on to win the Oscar for best Set Decoration and also earned praise from the notoriously hard to please Director James Cameron.
The Von Avi range is designed by Greg's wife Kaz and made in an airfield hangar workshop in the alpine lakeside town of Wanaka.
The blend of traditional aircraft technology, futuristic styling and function has created a strong following and demand for their limited edition, locally made range of metal handbags and fashion accessories.
