About Omakau Commercial Hotel

Located just metres from the Otago Central Rail Trail, the Omakau Commercial Hotel was built in 1898 s Omakau’s first homestead. The hotel can sleep up to 27 people in a variety of rooms to suit all price ranges (refurbished rooms).

The Hotel is available for any of your dining requirements, whether it is Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or that special function - 364 days a year. Our Chefs pride themselves on their flavour and presentation.

The hotel is being lovingly restored back to its former glory, with the original floorboards and architraves being taken back to their original beauty. We would like our guests to take a step back in time and enjoy the history this lovely old building holds. We have tried to compliment the hotel with the appropriate antiques and old memorabilia. Come and see the old Stables at the back of the hotel famous for the Speights Ads.
