At Nicara Lodge, Heather & Mike engage with their guests to ensure their stay in Rotorua excels all expectations. Their greatest joy is when guests are sad to leave.
As a bed and breakfast, they specialise in breakfasts - a different hot course each morning, in addition to the usual fruit, home made cereal and yoghurt. Summer time enables this to be served on the deck overlooking Lake Rotorua. Quiet music and the waves lapping make this a special part of the day.
Early evening, New Zealand wines are served with a selection of canapés before guests leave for restaurant dining or a Maori experience. This is the time to share experiences, tell the Rotorua stories and plan the following day.
At Nicara Lodge, all guest rooms are king or twin configuration and all have extensive lake views. The Lodge has a considerable art collection, much of it New Zealand. Guests are invited to peruse this with a glass of wine and a book of the collection.
Having travelled extensively and being frustrated in many hotel rooms, Heather & Mike have added many extra features; surround bathroom lighting, under floor bathroom heating, heated towel rail, multiple coat hangers, trouser press, free internet access, complimentary laundry, different sized pillows, natural toiletries plus the usual teas and coffees.

From the lakefront jetty, guests can board a jet boat for a thrill spin on Lake Rotorua or a floatplane to many destinations. Take a kayak and explore the lake and streams. Or walk along our nearby Hamurana Stream and taste the pure water from the spring. And we haven’t even mentioned all the many attractions for which Rotorua is famous.
