About Darfield Vet Centre

The Darfield Vet Centre is a mixed veterinary practice offering a comprehensive range of services to both our large animal and companion animal clients.

COMPANION ANIMALS

We offer general services for companion animals including vaccinations, de-sexing, micro chipping and pregnancy scanning. We are also fully equipped to perform dental procedures and a wide range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries. Our team of highly skilled vets and devoted nurses are able to offer additional services such as nutritional and behavioural advice, Puppy Pre School and veterinary specialist referrals.

Our facilities, including separate surgery and preparatory theatres, ultrasound equipment, an x-ray machine, an endoscope, fluid pump, dental equipment and two anaesthetic machines allow us to perform surgeries and procedures in an efficient and safe manner. Our temperature controlled kennels have heated flooring and we have a separate cattery for cats to recover in comfort.

LARGE ANIMALS

Our large animal services cater to sheep, beef, dairy and deer clients as well as smallholder and equine clients. We also support a number of clients with alpacas, donkeys and pigs and see plenty of pets both on the farm and at the clinic! As well as our general large animal services (such as vaccination and worming programs, pregnancy testing, pain-free castrations and routine and emergency medicine and surgery) we also offer:

• Ram soundness checks (including testing for Brucella Ovis) and ram vasectomies
• Disease outbreak investigations
• Fertility and libido testing of bulls including a comprehensive report
• Synchronisation and mating programs for dairy cows, including alternatives for non-cycling cows
• Prevention and control programs for Leptospirosis, Mastitis and hoof care in cattle
• TB testing and safe, pain-free develvetting of deer
• Disease surveillance and control programs in deer including Johnes disease and Yersiniosis
• Calf disbudding using analgesia
• On site nitrate testing of green feed
