The ‘Pink® Batts® Ultra® Energy Efficiency Award’ in the recent Registered Master Builders 2008 House of the Year was the other prize that was achieved and speaks for itself with the “Cornerstone Building system” having the highest R-value of any other wall system. The R value is the ability of the product to resist thermal movement keeping the building warm or cool dependant on the out door temperature. Insulation being the key to energy efficiency has been well proven now with all of the research that has been done.

This is the first ‘Cornerstone building system” home to be entered in any award program which came up trumps and was certainly very exciting news for the system inventor, whose passion and purpose filled drive to keep the system in the market on a shoestring budget over the last 15 years. Coming from a design and building background of 20 plus years, she firmly believes that this is the system for the “Future of New Zealand homes” and our grandchildren, if we are to be serious about reducing energy use and ultimately our carbon footprint.

The system works out at the same price, often less as the timber framed system which is the most widely used system with the ‘added value” of strength for the safer home in disaster and insulation for a more comfortable home without the cost of energy.
