Cornerstone Architectural Designer considers the environment along with cost savings for her clients. Mary has been in the industry in the capacity of building, design and development since the 1980's when it was not so popular to consider the environment where her designs incorporated at least the affordable passive solar options using the direct sun and orientation to achieve an energy efficient structure. Sustainable design is important and using the Cornerstone Building System which she invented to assist in her aim of affordable energy efficiency, with it's high insulation value assists in achieving a home or building that is low in energy use.

This leaves around 30% of power usage to achieve which is easily possible with a small roof wind generator and solar to work in all types of weather conditions.

The Cornerstone Building system is best described as a Structural Insulated Panel SIP, or Insulated Concrete Formwork ICF, because the polystyrene panels are 1200 x 200mm x whatever the stud height is. These are stood then concrete is poured into the cores connecting the panels, forming a post and beam structure within the polystyrene.
